Press brake operator and forklift operator

The company and the role

A manufacturing company in Plessisville, specialising in sheet metal cutting, bending and processing, is looking for two motivated, versatile people to join its production team.

Two positions are open: position 1, press brake operator, and position 2, forklift operator and production material handler.

The employer is looking for people with manufacturing experience and offers on-site training to motivated candidates who want to build their skills.

What you will do

Position 1 — Press brake operator

• Read and interpret technical plans and drawings
• Position and handle metal sheets and parts in the press brake
• Carry out bending operations on CNC press brakes, including Bystronic machines, according to production specifications
• Set up equipment, remove tooling and carry out changeovers between production runs
• Extract metal parts and carry out finishing operations
• Check part dimensions and compliance with precision measuring instruments
• Track quantities produced against production sheets
• Work with the team to meet quality standards and production deadlines

Position 2 — Forklift operator and production material handler

• Drive a forklift to move materials and production parts
• Supply workstations with metal sheets and parts
• Load, unload and move materials
• Take part in extracting, handling and finishing parts
• Keep a clean, organised and safe work environment
• Work with machine operators to keep production flowing
• Carry out various production tasks as needed

What it takes

• Experience working in a factory or manufacturing environment
• Vocational training in a relevant field and/or experience in a similar role, an asset
• Able to read and understand technical drawings, especially for the press brake role
• Math skills and ability to use measuring instruments
• Experience on a CNC press brake, ideally Bystronic, a major asset
• Forklift driving experience; valid forklift training is an asset
• Good physical capacity to handle metal parts and work standing
• Able to work with different product types and formats
• Attention to detail, rigour, autonomy and resourcefulness
• Team spirit, versatility and a good ability to learn

On-site training may be offered. People with general manufacturing production experience, even without direct experience on the equipment used, are encouraged to apply.

The conditions

• Wage of $24 to $27/h, based on experience and skills
• Permanent full-time job, 40 hours a week
• Day shift in the short term, with a possible move to an evening shift later
• On-site training and support available
