The salon and the role

A professional salon in Montreal is looking for an experienced hairstylist, an entrepreneur or self-employed worker, who wants to build their own clientele within an established setting. This is not a salaried position: you work on commission, for your own account, with the autonomy that comes with it.

How you are paid

Compensation is commission or percentage based, under an arrangement to be discussed with the salon. The percentage depends on your experience, the clientele you bring and the services you offer.

Important: this is a self-employed arrangement, not salaried employment. You invoice for your services and handle your own taxes and contributions. If this way of working is new to you, we can explain it before you commit.

The techniques required

  • Women’s and men’s cuts
  • Layering and texturising

  • Iron styling and curls

On fine to medium hair — straight, wavy or lightly curly, European type.
